About us and the charity

Gala on the Green (GOTG) is a black-tie charity ball with the sole purpose to raise much needed funds and awareness for youth charities. GOTG was established in 2011 in Australia by young professionals who come from a range of industries – from finance, to legal, to media, to medical – who all share a passion for wanting to make a difference in the community for people their own age who have been less fortunate. To date, it has raised over $160,000AUD for the youth homeless charity, Brisbane Youth Services.

Gala on the Green launched in London in 2015, proving a massive success having raised over £52,000 for the London youth charities. At the Gala, guests are invited to socialise with like-minded individuals and network in the beautiful green surroundings whilst being entertained throughout the evening with live music, a raffle, delicious food and flowing drinks.

The continued support of the Gala on the Green annual event makes a life-changing difference to the young people supported by Depaul UK.

For the past 30 years, Depaul UK has supported some of the most marginalised and vulnerable young people to progress from chaos and homelessness to stability and independence. Young people supported by Depaul UK find themselves facing homelessness due to a variety of personal and societal factors, but the majority are at crisis point due to family breakdown – 61% of Nightstop users in 2018 accessed the service for this reason.

Wherever possible, Depaul will endeavour to ensure young people can return home. If not, we work collaboratively with young people, equipping them with the necessary skills to live and thrive independently. In 2018 alone we worked with more than 3,000 young people to support them in avoiding or escaping homelessness.

Depaul’s emergency and preventative services help young people experiencing homelessness at every stage of their journey, from early intervention work in schools and colleges, to family mediation, housing support or longer-term supported accommodation.

The support of passionate and driven committees like Gala on the Green means that Depaul UK can help more young people to move onto better, more independent lives – away from the streets and the dangers surrounding homelessness.

To ensure the charity can help even more individuals in need across London and the UK, Depaul UK welcomes Gala on the Green’s committed support to provide unrestricted funds to help services such as Nightstop, Endeavour and Get Up & Go! meet the specific needs of those groups of young people to enable them to prosper and live independently.

Summary

We have seen the benefits of how this money makes a difference. We hope you will join us in helping London’s homeless and at-risk youth.
